Thermoforming CNC Mold Milling Specialists

	Thermoforming molds can be machined from a variety of materials. Prototype molds can be designed and machined with a very short lead time. A completed design can be machined in some cases overnight or by the second day.
Our most popular prototype material is RenShape® 460 Modeling Board. It is high density (48 lb /ft 3 ) polyurethane that provides a low coefficient of thermal expansion. This gives good dimensional stability over a broad temperature range. It allows for ultra-fine surface finish and a good reproduction of intricate details.
	Prototype molds can be as large as 20” X 40” or as small as necessary. The top mold pictured is 5” X 9” X 3”. The second prototype mold is 19” X 19” X 4”. We can include vacuum channels, manifolding, undercuts, drafts, other surface details and any surface finish required.
Production molds can be machined from billet or cast aluminum, Metapor® porous aluminum, Teflon®, Delrin® or any combination of these. Aluminum molds are machined with vacuum channels and manifolding. Plug assists can be machined from any combination of materials. At right is an example of a mold with aluminum cavity and a plug assist of aluminum supporting Teflon.
	We can machine Aluminum molds to accommodate any required material thickness or combination of clearances. This mold (left) was machined with a nominal clearance of .0160” and an insert to give .0040” clearance in the area of an undercut slot.
